Clean Wise
Do not over wet carpets using detergents.
The detergents are chemically active enough and over-wetting can cause brown stains, carpet shrinking, adhesion problems and other nightmares!
Vacuuming is hard work at the best of times. Change your vacuum bag before it gets too full - a full bag is less efficient and makes the task twice as difficult.
Clean windows with a solution of half a cup of household ammonia, the same of white vinegar and two tablespoons of corn starch in a bucket of warm water.
To reduce the need for artificial lights, make sure you clean the windows thoroughly because dirty windows can reduce natural light by around 20 per cent.
Children’s stickers can be removed from wood by painting the sticker with vinegar, letting it soak in and then scraping off.
To get rid of rings or minor scratches on wood, cover with petroleum jelly and leave for 24 hours. Rub it into the wood, wipe off the excess and then polish as normal.
To clean ivory piano keys, squeeze a little fluoride toothpaste onto a damp cloth. Rub the keys quite hard and buff with a soft, dry cloth.
